Kitchen Cabinet Repair and Staining-West Gilson, Oregon

Before & During - Contrast between old door and stripped door ready for stain

Project – Strip kitchen cabinets to bare wood and then stain and apply clear coats.

Size – All kitchen cabinets in a single family home in West Gilson, Oregon

Time – 5 days

Material Used – Wood Dye for stain and 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Pre Catalyzed Lacquer for the clear coat.

We were asked to do kitchen cabinet repair and staining in a single family home in West Gilson, Oregon.  The cabinets were in fair condition, areas of the original stain had been worn away.

The homeowner wanted a darker stain then the original.  We soon found that it was very difficult to take a very light colored wood, such as oak, and stain it very dark.  It is extremely important not to leave excess residue on the surface, so we needed something stronger than ordinary stain. We finally decided to use a much stronger version of wood stain concentrate often referred to as wood dye. The wood took on the dye beautifully, and the owner was very pleased with the color.
