Contented Green and a Borscht Red Door:
Two-Tone Exterior House Painting in McMinnville, OR
Project Overview
This two-tone exterior house painting job was a residential home in McMinnville, OR. The siding on all four sides got a soft green body color, with a deeper green on the front peak and the two columns at street level to give the front of the house some depth.
The old white trim around the doors and windows was repainted in Nuance, a warmer off-white, and the front door went to a deep red Borscht. Partway through, the homeowner also had us paint the door below the back deck, which wasn’t in the original scope.

Final Results
The house now reads as one planned color scheme: a soft green body, a darker green on the features that face the street, warm off-white trim, and a red front door that pulls your eye straight to the entry. Two coats on the siding and trim give the colors full, even coverage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is two-tone exterior house painting?
Two-tone exterior house painting uses one main body color plus a second color on features like peaks, columns, or bump-outs. On this McMinnville home, the body is Contented and the front peak and columns are Dried Thyme.
How many coats does an exterior repaint need?
We bid this house at 2 coats on the main body and 2 coats on the trim. Two coats give even color and better coverage than one, especially when you are changing colors.
Can you change white trim to a different color?
Yes. On this job we repainted the existing white trim around the doors and windows in Nuance, a warmer off-white, with 2 coats.
How long does a two-tone exterior house painting job take in McMinnville, OR?
This house took our five-person crew about 5 to 6 working days. Your timeline depends on the size of the house, how much prep it needs, and how many colors and details are involved.
